Campus party is a technological born in Spain back in the mid 90’s; according to his creator “Paco Ragageles” campus party is more than a LAN party because it opens the spectrum of possibilities including educative meetings and seminars.

Few months later in June 2008, Bogotá, Colombia started its campus party; this version of the party exhibited the same characteristics of the Brazilian one, about the same connection, the same kind of activities and so on.
However this version of the party was the first one to include recreational activities not directly related to the event but inside the campus.
In general terms and as balance of this event, total assistance to activities were 45% more than expected and the percent of uploads vs. downloads from the internet was bigger compared to other versions of the party.
This year Bogotá is again host of this party, and according to the website of the event it will have a 6.6GB connection and the presence of Kevin Mitnick with his conference “The Art of Deception” among many other activities like astronomy, modding and for the first time a section of the campus for MAC users; at this moment there are like 2787 entries sold, also the camping sites with internet connections and electricity are almost sold out which demonstrates the success of this kind of events in Colombia and the interest of computer users for the experience of being part of this show.
Another important aspect of this edition of the campus party, is an initiative promoted by the city government called “Digital Baptism” the idea of this event of to introduce general public with no computer experience into the world of computers and internet and how to properly use it using multimedia and videogames all at no cost or free.
