Let’s Not Forget the ‘Science’ in ‘Computer Science’

There is a growing trend to treat very difficult problems in computer science as purely engineering problems where solutions are approximated using data-driven approaches. This is a harmful trend, and we should be reminded that computer science is, after all, a science and some balance shuld be maintained.
