Since the landmark reversal of Roe v. Wade, the major tech companies most responsible for perpetuating our global surveillance state, such as Apple, Google, and Meta, have uttered barely a peep about their policies and practices on this front—though they have been quick to assure their employees that they will cover worker abortion-related travel expenses.
Corporate leaders undoubtedly find themselves caught in a difficult spot on abortion-related topics. For tech companies caught in the crossfire, there is a potentially palatable middle ground: clearly stating corporate policies and practices for consumers, allowing them to act with a kind of digital informed consent. In these politically fraught times, it is the least that the tech industry can do.
