Spirit rover's arm and surroundings on Mars

NASA's ill-fated Spirit used its front hazard-avoidance camera to record this forward view of its arm and surroundings during the rover's 2,052nd day on Mars (Oct. 11, 2009).

With the AEGIS system, the Mars Exploration Rovers can autonomously select, capture, and analyze images using onboard logic.
