My observations serve to confirm this exact behavior. If you want a deeper view with some good grounding in Game Theory, then read this great little book- "The Evolution of Cooperation" by Robert Axelrod. It is very well written and entertaining. Cooperation is the foundation of successful projects, and also societies and governments. Egoist denial and half truths are destructive of this fundamental process.
