The talent shortage affects time-strapped team members' work-life balance and mental health, and ultimately influences security postures.

A survey of 500 security professionals and software developers at companies in the United States with 2,000 or more employees shows how cybersecurity teams are managing stressors and what they think of their roles within their organizations.

The data tells a story of constant disruptions to the work-life balance for those leading the charge on software security. The numbers paint a disheartening picture:  Four-plus hours each day are lost to DevSecOps issues that could have otherwise been prevented with best practices and modern tools; one in three employees have blown off dates with a significant other or a night out with friends because of security issues at work; more than 1 in 3 leaders in have managed cybersecurity issues amidst a holiday meal with family or during downtime at home; 50% say they've had to log in over the weekend or on their own time to manage an issue.
