Israel has reached "super-power" status, as its technological developments have reached new heights.

Following the success of Israel's satellite developments, the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Science and Technology announced a huge rise in Israel's investment in space technologies. The state will invest 165 million shekels ($44.31 million) in the space program in the next two years – up from about 10 million shekels ($2.68 million) for the previous two-year period.

Israeli computer experts, engineers and scientists are now in great demand — thanks to the huge investment by foreign high-tech companies. 46 percent of all companies in Israel are multinationals, compared to only 5% in Japan. Apple recently announced a new R&D center, following in the footsteps of Google, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Texas Instruments and others.

A report from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development indicates that Israel is one of the world's most educated countries. The study shows that Israel ranks second in percentage of population with post-secondary degrees, with 45% of Israelis completing university degrees. Israel ranks ahead of countries such as Japan (44%), the United States (41%), the UK (37%), and only lags behind Canada (50%).
